The Story
A Journey Rooted in Service
For more than two decades, it has been my privilege to walk alongside nonprofit organizations during pivotal moments in their evolution.
In the first 14 years of the firm, my work focused on helping accounting departments catch up, clean up, and come into compliance — serving as a trusted advisor and hands-on partner embedded with leadership teams who wanted more for their organizations and the communities they served.
This work was never just about accounting. It was about people, purpose, and strengthening organizations from the inside out.
🌿The Work Evolves
As organizations stabilized financially, a deeper truth emerged:many of the challenges showing up in accounting were symptoms, not root causes.
Over the next 12 years, the practice intentionally evolved. Traditional accounting services were phased out, except for education and training, and the work expanded into:
- Board governance
- Leadership development
- Operational effectiveness
- Organizational systems, processes, and procedures
The focus shifted from fixing what was broken to designing infrastructure that worked — so organizations could operate proactively rather than reacting to problems after the fact.
✦From Fixing Problems to Designing Solutions
This evolution led to even deeper capacity-building work.
The strength of this approach resulted in the creation of an experiential learning board game that simulates real-world governance challenges, as well as the formation of a new company — 501c Impact! — to house and expand this work.
By the time the board game launched, the distinction was clear:the work had moved far beyond accounting and into holistic nonprofit capacity building — addressing leadership, governance, culture, and systems together.
☀️A Full Transition Forward
At this stage of my own growth and development, it is time to focus completely on this broader scope of service.
All nonprofit capacity-building services are now fully housed within 501c Impact!, and the CPA firm is officially closing. This marks the culmination of a long, intentional transition — not a departure from the work, but its fullest expression.
With Deep Gratitude
To every client, colleague, partner, and community member — thank you.
Thank you for the trust, the shared learning, the courageous conversations, and the commitment to building organizations that could better fulfill their missions. It has been a joy to grow alongside you.
I am equally grateful for the opportunity to continue working with many of you through 501c Impact! — expanding this work locally and internationally, and continuing the partnerships that have meant so much over the years.
This is not an ending. It is the work, fully realized.
