Join us for an engaging day of learning what it means to serve on a nonprofit board of directors.  Facilitated by Glenda Hicks, BoardSource Certified Governance Trainer.

Let us equip you for success?  Are you interested in serving on the board of directors of a nonprofit organization that serves clients in Cobb County?  If you are, this training is for you.  Board service is dramatically different in today’s environment than perhaps any other time in history, with greater expectations placed on board member performance and engagement.  Come ready to learn the board’s roles and responsibilities and join a database of graduates certified to serve on boards of organizations either located in Cobb or serving clients in Cobb.

Who Should Attend:  Individuals from business, education government, healthcare, other disciplines and the community at large with limited or no experience in having served on the board of directors of a not-for-profit organization.

Purpose:  To create a pipeline of individuals the Cobb County not-for-profit organizations can access and consider for serving on their boards of directors as they seek to fill vacancies when terms expire, or as new nonprofits incorporate.  Board recruitment is a year-round process that includes finding qualified individuals who meet the current needs of an organization and who ideally possess a basic understanding of what is expected of them  and legally required of them to serve on a nonprofit board of directors.  Our goal is to increase the community impact of our nonprofit organizations by supporting them in recruiting qualified governance talent.
